N. B.

  1. Due to the nature of the activities of this tour, it is not recommended for children under the age of 14.  Please consult with us if you have any questions or concerns.
  2. This tour is physically active!  While not necessarily physically challenging, visiting Tuscany means a lot of walking is involved.  Hilltop towns means that there will be a lot of walking uphill (sometimes steep) and ...downhill, in addition to walking over cobbles or uneven pavement. We also will be walking in the woods for a few adventures.  Therefore, we recommend bringing an excellent pair of walking shoes or hiking boots and that you must be in good physical condition to participate on this trip.

Fall in Italy is a glorious time, almost magical, especially in Tuscany; the colors, the smells, most importantly, the food.  Throughout the countryside, the colors are brilliant – from deep golds to rich reds and purples, the air is cooler and there are less crowds.  But also, most importantly, fall means harvest time and Tuscany is no exception.  Tuscany’s autumn harvest includes truffles, mushrooms (Porcini!), chestnuts, olives and grapes.

The harvest is a celebration, marking the end of the agricultural season. In almost every town throughout Italy you can find a sagra (Sagre plural), a festival celebrating the harvest of that town’s local food and specialty. These food festivals are a wonderful chance to experience and to try the local culture, traditions and foods. Of course there are sagre in the spring too, and these celebrate the foods and joys that come with that season as well: artichokes, asparagus, strawberries, pecorino cheese, and more.

Imagine literally tasting the four seasons.; from spring’s grassy mild pecorino to fall’s earthy truffles or porcini.  It’s seasonal activities such as these events that help create authentic Italian experiences, which become extraordinary memories.

Join us this October as we make our way through the Tuscan countryside and sample and savor the flavors of fall.
